London’s oldest Kosher bakery has now entered a new chapter. Under new management, Grodzinski continues to serve the community as it has been doing for well over a century.
We Are Grodzinski
Guardians Of Kashrus And Quality
From the first Bilkelech to come out of the Oven in their original premises back in 1888, Mr & Mrs Grodzinski established a tradition of excellence. It was a philosophy they learnt at home in Belarus and passed on to their children here in the UK. It has continued uninterrupted, as the bakery expanded to Dunsmure Road in 1930 and Clapton Common in 1961. It remained intact through two world wars and was passed on through three generations of the Grodzinski family.
More than 135 years later, it’s stronger than ever. Grodzinski is a gold member of CBA craft bakers association, with a 4-star Food Hygiene Rating from Food Standards Agency.
The management wants its customer to enjoy its goods without compromising on their standards, and that has not changed and never will.
But while the basic foundations stay the same, the business itself hasn’t. With a growing community comes growing expectations, and Grodzinski has expanded to meet them. Walking into the main Clapton Common Branch, you’d never know that it started with a few Bilkelech. Now, you’re spoilt for choice! Not had breakfast? Hungry for lunch? Enjoy a delicious omelette or falafel from the deli counter. Or one of the many sandwiches or salads from the fridge. For fish lovers, there are our cooked salmon pieces and yes, there’s a sushi selection too. Treat yourself to a chocolate croissant or cheese danish with a coffee and of course, there’s our delicious range of bread, bagels and rolls. Something for every taste, from the sweet-toothed snackers to the health-conscious.
One of Grodzinski’s favourite services is providing food for events. Whether it’s a family, business or community event, the staff are ready to prepare any amount of food including platters of rolls, cakes, fish, fruit and sushi to help celebrate or impress.
In fact, Grodzinski staff stand ready for anything, including wholesale orders. ‘too big/small’ is an answer you’ll never hear when calling in with an order. We’re prepared to help with anything, of any size.
The recent change in management heralds the beginning of the next chapter. But whatever the future brings, some things will never change. Quality and kashrus at Grodzinski are not up for compromise. And they never will be.
When it comes to quality, compromise is not an option.
But there’s another value the Grodzinski family has held dear since day one.
When it came to kashrus, only the best would do for these legendary family bakers. So, it’s hardly surprising that Grodzinski is Kedassia’s oldest licensee. No surprise either that the bakery is one of the only ones to have a Mashgiach onsite throughout most of the day.

Fascinating mix of kosher foods. Great selection of dishes to have in or take away. Very good coffee, very innovative rolls. A little busy at lunch as one would imagine. Five star experience through out.… More Yiddish is very welcome!
If you are after a GOOD bagel North East the river, this place right here is the spot.Grodzinski stands proud in her green coat on the top of Stamford hill. A hasidic haven of baked kosher goods. Upon… More stepping in you are immediately surrounded by the smell of it all. Your eyes will dart around trying to take it all in, from the savoury counter to the other side that is filled with sweet sweet treats. It's truly a meal for all the senses. Overwhelmed and excited I picked out the onion bagel and order the omelette to go inside. It's all prepared in front of you and it all looks so so good. You watch others order and continue to just look around in awe at the beauty of this place. It's a gem that I truly hope to revisit more often.
I wholeheartedly recommend this lovely kosher bakery to anyone in search of delectable baked goods that not only satisfy the taste buds but also meet kosher dietary requirements. Whether you are looking… More for a delicious treat for yourself or a thoughtful gift for someone special, this bakery is sure to exceed your expectations!
Grodzinski is really superb. There needs to be more of their branches in London. As there once were. And please in future all with the possibilities to sit down and eat it,with good coffees and teas.
I like some of the bakery here, not all is good. But the bread and doughnuts are great! The coffee is good and cheap, and salad pot is nice but quite expensive. Overall, good.

A very nice bakery, my mother used to go here as a child. I have shopped here too. I love what is on offer, everything is delicious, definitely recommend and hope to go back soon........
If I say so , this is the best bakery ever , i love the iced coffee and latkes the best i also like their cakes such as the marble lekach mm !! staff are lovely too , thank you
I usually go on a Friday morning, which can be busy due to Shabbat but the shop is always fully staffed and the shelves are full and challah bread in abundance. The staff are efficient but could greet… More slightly friendlier. However, this might be due to the busyness on this particular day. I've not had any reason to complain or stop shopping there.
Great experience! it's a next level bakery. Good food. fast sarvice. and not expensive at all. To my experience it's the best kosher breakfast place in London
The best pastries cinnamon ones, square ones with sweet cottage cheese filling, and jam&cottage cheese filling. A kugel is heavenly delicious. A taste of kugel reminds me childhood when my father cooked… More it.Quick and friendly service, especially thanks to a Lithuanian sales lady for a lovely and attentive service. This is my only favorite bakery in London, where I can get pastries in a similar taste as in my home country Latvia.I'd like to thank the owners for running this bakery and making my happy mood every time I visiting you (6 years already). I wish you a successful expansion and strong endurance to keep this heavenly place running. With warmth regardsDiga from Riga, Latvia
The Jewish people are experts in bakery and confectionery. If Grodzinski ever considered expanding into a cafe and restaurant, I'd become a regular customer. I'd like to order their star shaped… More cookies for my church at Christmas time. I shared pictures of the cookies I purchased on social media and some of my friends commented on how delicious they looked, even another Christian friend in Ghana!
